MultiMode Reader
The MFJB MultiReaderâ„¢ is a standalone multimode reader. this selfcontained device operates from audio coming from your shortwave receiver or transceiver. It will can decode and display Morse code, Baudot RTTY, ASCII and AMTOR FEC. The text messages will scroll across the LCD display. No computer, interface, special cables or other equipment is needed. Supported shifts for RTTY include 170, 425 and 850 Hz. The shift for ASCII and AMTOR is fixed at 170 Hz. The Mark tone frequency is jumper selectable from USA 2125 Hz or European 1275 Hz. Supported Baudot RTTY baud rates include: 45, 50, 57, 75 and 100 baud. ASCII is 110 baud. AMTOR is 100 baud. This device has an 8000 character volatile RAM storage buffer.
The rear panel has input for a 12 VDC power supply and an Epson compatible parallel printer port. The printer would be required only if you want to produce “hard copies” of your intercepts. There is also a special hand key input jack. This 3.5mm jack can be used if you wish to add a straight code key (not supplied) and practice sending code into the reader.
This device requires the optional MFJB or external 12 VDC at 300 mA.
